For Parents, Grandparents & Guardians:
When our children and grandchildren inherit this country from us - what exactly will we be handing to them?
Without understanding of History and the system they will be defenseless. Whether we correct things before they are old enough to have the reins passed down to them or not, "maintenance" will still be their responsibility at some point.
An educated public is vital to the survival of the United States of America.
It is up to you whether to trust the schools to be the sole provider of their education on this subject matter - OR you can be sure that they will have the tools they need by doing it yourself in supplement with your child's teacher. If they are taught the same things later, great! They should get good grades! If not, they will have the option to question why they weren't taught American History later.
Many school cirriculum now focus on "Social History" only - and only one-sided tidbits of it at that. In many cases the hands of the teachers are tied from straying to the "important facts".
If you have a problem with the way schools are running, please act. Use your voice at School Board Meetings and get yourself sitting on Committees. It's an eye-opener. You'd be surprised by what decisions they make, who makes those decisions and why. Get involved in every way you can.

You can search for appropriate materials online to find family and individual projects.
Be involved with their History and they will remember it. Keep it fun. Make it a family activity. Start simple.
"Soft education" is recommended in the beginning - then graduate them to understanding the more complicated points as they ask questions or prove to be ready.
